Susan Landry from Albemarle Corporation will present at the 3-day Fire and Materials Conference in San Francisco, California. The conference will run from January 31 to February 2, 2011.
Landry will give attendees an overview of the current regulatory status of flame retardants (FRs) globally, as well as in North America. Landry will then discuss polymeric flame retardants like Earthwise’s GreenArmor, which are primed to be the next generation of FR technology. These new FRs are valuable because their large chemical size prevents them from accumulating in the body or having toxic effects on humans or animals.
Another important aspect of an eco-friendly flame retardant is recyclability. Plastics using any FR need to be recyclable while maintaining high performance. Landry will present on the extremely high recyclability of GreenArmor (see Landry’s publication on GreenArmor recyclability or Dr. Kumar’s presentation on the new flame retardant).
Landry’s presentation will go more in depth on this new generation of high-performance, eco-friendly flame retardants. Get to the Fire and Materials Conference to see for yourself. If you can’t make it to the conference, you can read a research publication on the new flame retardant here.
